Apr 09, 2013  Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 800 not working. Hi, I have the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 800 and Microsoft Wireless Mouse 1000 that both use the same USB receiver. I've had them for over a year with absolutely no problems. However, I unplugged my USB receiver as I have done many times before and then plugged it back in. The mouse carried on. Note This article will help you resolve problems that are related to many non-Bluetooth Microsoft Wireless mouse and keyboard devices. Wireless devices are not Bluetooth devices. A wireless device has a symbol displayed on the USB connector/receiver or on the hardware itself. The wireless symbol looks like a tree branch, as shown here.

Microsoft Wireless Mouse 1000 Does Not Work

Bought this to replace our existing mouse, almost 2 yrs old, which had started acting wonky. The original mouse and its 'matching' wireless keyboard came with the computer, and they both operated off the same USB receiver. This original mouse had the same PN as this replacement (checked that out before ordering) but when we got it, we realized it isn't exactly the same (although it looks the same) and that number doesn't appear to be in the ad anymore. The original mouse used only 1 AA battery, this replacement takes 2 AA batteries, making it noticeably heavier. It also has a manufacture date a yr older/prior to the mouse it replaced. Also, because the numbers on the original and the replacement were advertised as the same, I assumed this replacement mouse and our existing keyboard would both work off the same USB receiver, as did the old mouse and existing keyboard. That, too, was not the case, meaning we must have the old USB receiver plugged into the computer in order for the existing keyboard to work AND the USB receiver that came with the replacement mouse also plugged into the computer in order for it to work. That fills up all the USB ports available, meaning I now have to buy a portable USB port and hope that one of the receivers will work plugged into that and allow us to have open USB ports for other components we use. It's a disappointment and a hassle and, overall, I'm not all that pleased with this purchase. The old mouse, even with only 1 AA battery, had a very long battery life, needing replacement only once in 22 months of daily use. It will be interesting to see how that compares to the 2 AA batteries required by this new mouse. This mouse doesn't seem as 'stable' as the old one did before it went wonky, either, sometimes jumpy when trying to get it to 'focus' on something, so I'm doubtful that it will perform as well for as long as the first mouse did. Time will tell. When it comes time to replace either this mouse or the original keyboard, I'll likely look to replace BOTH with something else and avoid the hassle of successfully mating the two to a single USB receiver. Hopefully, that won't be for awhile!
