There once was a tiger striped cat. This cat died a million deaths, revived and lived a million lives, and he was owned by various people who he didn't really care for. The cat wasn't afraid to die. Then one day the cat became a stray cat, which meant he was free. He met a white female cat, and the two of them spent their days together happily. Well, years passed, and the white cat grew weak and died of old age. The tiger striped cat cried a million times, and then he died too. Except this time, he didn't come back to life.

The plethora of opportunities we’ve been given – both in class and asbonus work – to further our own understanding of the many different ways poetryhas worked throughout the ages have all served to better educate and to show methat what has come before my – or anyone else’s – work is, in fact, thefoundation of something great and outstanding. I’ve done most, if not all of mywork to the best of ability because of this, and tried my hardest to hand itall in on time despite the workload I have for other, more “important” classes. To me, I think thatthis semester spent taking Modern Poetry not only enriched my own understandingof what poetry and poetics actually are,but also helped me to become a better poet becauseI now understand the many different eras that have influenced my own work. Becauseof that, I’d give myself an 85 out of 100, overall, because I feel like I’vereally taken something from this class that I’ll use until the day I retire. |
